Docklands Taekwon-Do squad show England's footballers the way

England's footballers are making good progress in Euro 2004 - but members of Dockland's Taekwon-Do School have already brought back winner's medals from the European Taekwon-Do championships.

They travelled to Tampere, Finland, for the event and helped the England team to their best medal haul for 10 years.

"Docklands Taekwon-Do School's contribution was critical to the achievement," says England senior team coach Tom Denis.

Daniel Farrell of Docklands was crowned European champion in the second degree patterns category, beating representatives from Spain, Finland and Italy before defeating the previous European champ from Sweden in the final.

Farrell and Docklands clubmate Hong Looi were part of the England's men's squad that secured a silver medal in the team patterns competition while Looi won a tie-breaker to clinch bronze for England in the special techniques category.

There was further success for Docklands when Aleksandria Korneluk and Carolina Dillon helped the England women's team to four bronze medals.

Docklands Taekwon-Do is based at George Green School in Manchester Road, Isle of Dogs, and will welcome new members. Anyone interested in taking up the Korean martial art should telephone 07789-018016 for further information.
