What is Taekwon-Do?

Taekwon-Do is a Korean form of unarmed combat for the purpose of self-defense, which is achieved through intensive physical and mental training. It is a martial art that has no equal in power or technique.

Why study Taekwon-Do?

Taekwon-Do has something for everybody. This can just be the benefit of regular or much-needed exercise, gaining confidence, learning self-defense or simply making friends. For the serious students it can lead to promotion to black belt, local and international competitions, or even the opportunity to become a World Champion.

Beginners are welcome

Taekwon-Do is not just for the physically fit and there are no age limits for those wishing to participate. Adults and children are equally welcome and students can progress at their own pace with their own goals in mind.

Improve fitness

Taekwon-Do is recognised as one of the best martial arts for improving your hand/eye coordination, stamina and general physical fitness. This is being widely recognised as Taekwon-Do starts appearing on the studio timetables of popular gyms and health clubs.

Training and competitions

Taekwon-Do offers a variety of training regimes. As well as the regular weekly club training sessions there are also opportunities to attend specialist seminars and training camps both in the UK and abroad. This gives serious students the opportunity to learn more advanced skills and train with current and former European and World Champions.

Self defense

Taekwon-Do is self defense. It not only teaches you how to actually defend yourself in extreme situations but also how to avoid those situations in the first place.

Is it all training, training and more training?

Not at all. There are regular social events arranged through your local club, from winding down after a particularly heavy training session to multi-activity weekends and visits to the theatre. It's as much fun as you want it to be. Come along and try it out.
